Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop or basket. The game is played on a rectangular court, with a hoop elevated at each end. Teams score by making field goals, which are worth two or three points depending on the distance from the hoop, or by free throws, which are awarded after certain fouls. Players can advance the ball by dribbling (bouncing the ball while moving) or passing it to teammates. The objective is to outscore the opponent by accumulating more points over the course of four quarters. Basketball emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and individual skill, and is played at various levels, from amateur to professional leagues. The sport is popular globally and is known for its fast pace, athleticism, and high-scoring nature.
