Social Movements

Social movements are organized efforts by a group of people to promote or resist change in society, often centered around specific issues such as civil rights, environmental protection, gender equality, or political reform. These movements typically seek to influence public opinion, policy, or social norms through collective action, which can include protests, lobbying, advocacy, education, and community organizing. Social movements can vary widely in size, scope, and methods, ranging from grassroots campaigns to large-scale national movements. They often emerge in response to perceived injustices or unmet needs within a society and can play a significant role in shaping social, political, and cultural landscapes. Through sustained activism, social movements aim to raise awareness, mobilize supporters, and ultimately bring about meaningful changes in laws, practices, or attitudes.
